HOSPICE LENS: PHOTOTHERAPY

RIP Nana #129

Hi, my name is Emily Theodora Ball, and I am the founder of Hospice Lens Inc. We are a nonprofit organization that helps local hospice patients with their end-of-life bucket list. Spoiling senior citizens, our veterans, and children who are disabled, have a terminal illness, or are on their own and could use a friend—ending loneliness in our community. We connect families that are out of state with the patients in hospice. I founded Hospice Lens in honor of my late mother, Marilyn Ruth Leavenworth, who passed away on July 23, 2019. She was diagnosed in February of 2019 with stage 4 lung cancer. We were able to cross off her bucket list items while laughing our asses off. She was a beautiful lady with a sweet soul who loved hard and celebrated life even harder; on her last day here on earth, butter was dripping down from her face while enjoying crab at the beach with her brother close by. It was her positive outlook in life that made me want to extend a hand to patients in hospice because I witnessed firsthand that many of them had no family, no friends, no one to take care of them, and we’re left alone to die. Covid19 only exacerbated the loneliness in senior centers and nursing homes. I witnessed how these patients lived their last days of life in agony, loneliness, and despair; no one deserves to spend their last days on earth this way. Hospice Lens is here to provide support and companionship. We are able to offer additional therapies that focus on the entire person—having a hand to hold onto!

Our Mission

To honor those who gave us life! Our loved ones in hospice and palliative care. Through phototherapy, preserve the family legacy for generations to come. Unify storytelling; from behind the lens, a photograph captures that, suddenly bringing you to that place and time in the intimacy of death. Making individual wishes come true in a picture frame. To inspire compassion while preparing for the end of life. Healing is possible while dying. Your donation can help us to fulfill their needs; we are locally tailored to make a measurable difference in the lives of terminally ill patients.
